☀️ September Fence Rider 🌦️
The whirlwind of summer is winding down although there are many things planned. But first a recap of the past. 👋
ALERT!! The Pepsi Machine is gone so if you are coming to ride be sure and bring something to drink.
The Wasco County Fair ticket takers did a good job and made some shekels for upgrades for the club, although we aren’t sure what the money will be used for. Surrounded by fires to the south and north the wind blew in the smoke and made for a hazy but not lazy day. Thank you, Cindy, for gathering volunteers and putting this together. 🙏
We had some of our juniors showing everything from chickens to open class exhibits. An array of kids showed up for the Kids Day games on Thursday. There were lots of prizes because of the many awesome businesses who donated. 💖 We appreciate them. Sponsors of Kids Day were Fort Dalles Riders Club, Oregon Equipment, My Comfort Zone and Tom Olsen Trucking, Katy’s Mobile Feed Store & Equine Services, ECS Meat Processing, Auto Werks, Tone Chiropractic, Debbie Martinez, New York Life Insurance and Columbia Stowaway. There were many more sponsors. Next year plans to be bigger and better!
Coming up October 1st is the Duane Fulps Scholarship Horse Show. Alice G. and her mom, Julia did an amazing job rounding up sponsors! There will be a high point saddle that has been hand tooled by Corriente Saddlery in Texas. 😍 Please join us to remember Jackie & Duane Fulps. We will be having a memorial in their honor. Sept.30, 2023, at 5pm at the clubhouse. The club will be providing chicken, cake, ice cream & beverages. Guests are being asked to please bring a side dish. RSVP by Sept. 18 to 541-978-8013 or janl@mosierwifi.com 🤗
October is going to be a busy month! Hone up your riding skills with the Fall Clinic by Stacie Riggs, Oct. 21 & 22. Horse body control, groundwork and riding. Give Kathy Maxwell a jingle to reserve your spot @ 541 993 6610.
The following week is the annual Halloweenarama 🎃 (Halloween) playday and we will have some new & fun games for you and your brumby. Gather up your fun duds for the costume class then participate in the fun games. Guaranteed to make laughs and giggles for all! 🙅
Healing thoughts to Glenn as he had a hip replacement. 🩹 He will be back in the saddle again soon. But we will see him before the saddle will, as he is going to announce the Halloween playday. Believe it or not, he is up and around. He and Lisa showed up at the general meeting.
The Barlow Rendezvous parade was a fun event. The presence of Kaleen, Hew, Kathy, Mary Jo, Annette, Amos and the clown on her horse, and Cindy with her pickup leading the club was appreciated. Next year we may have a meet and greet so the littles can enjoy the presence of the horses. After all, the outside of the horse is good for the inside of all who mother up to it. 🐴🧡
We are checking in to adding on to our mural. If you would like your horse painted on the next addition, please let us know. The cost will be the same as the last one which was $100 and it will be painted by the same artist. You will need to submit a picture of your horse.
Cesar will have the last bull riding event for the season Sept. 17. These are very popular with the hispanic community.
It is the time of year to make things happen and put your name on the ballot. If you want to be an officer or board member, next month is the time to do so. Nominations will close the end of October so ballots can be mailed and returned by the general meeting December 5. We will vote at that time.
The Veterans Day parade and Starlight parade will be here soon so keep riding your ponies….and then its the Country Christmas sale on Dec. 2.
Gather your ideas for events for next year, We have a lot of events planned!
Don’t forget to look and see the green comet, Nishimura. It is between the constellations Cancer and Leo and close to the morning star, Venus. 💫
Happy trails… Remember we don’t eat dust, we make it!
